about

Instrumental setting for a poem of my own, "Genesis": Bill MInor (piano),
Bob Danziger (synthesized-samples cello), Heath Proskin (bass)

lyrics

GENESIS

All our lives begin and end
with music; the sea itself
was silent, sleeping, and then
awoke in song.

Or maybe the goddess
Aphrodite, arising from foam
sang us into birth so she might
find release from her own longing.

However we began (perhaps
as simple chemistry,
a primal soup that came
aground to sing of love?),

we began and we shall end
as music—for our story
can only be told with faith
that finds its voice in song.
